River Kirby - Pre-K + K
Hello there!
I'm River Kirby and I am to excited get the chance to make wonderful creations with y'all!
This is my junior year here at Miami University. I am an Art Education & Studio major with a concentration in metals! When I'm not in class, I'm usually dog sitting all the sweet pups of Oxford.
I enjoy lots of DIY activities like quilting, beading jewelry, and patching up old clothes. All in all I'm a big fan of textile art! My biggest art inspirations are my peers in the Art program at Miami. The collective art community here nurtures my growth as a artist and as a person every day!

Claire Farrow - Grades 6-8
Hi! My name is Claire Farrow, and I am a senior at Miami University majoring in Art Education and Studio Art. My absolute favorite art medium to experience and work in has always been painting, but I love experimenting in all sorts of other media, including drawing, paper making, fabric dyeing, and more.
I spend a lot of time outdoors, camping, hiking, and hanging out with family and friends. I find most of my inspiration in awe of landscapes, ecology, and the natural environment. Learning about art from other artists, cultures, and time periods is also so fascinating and inspiring to me. I am so excited to meet my students, learn from each other, and create together! |

Ahoy there lads, ladies, and scallywags. My name is Daniel Robben and I am a junior in art education and minor in 3D studio. I look forward to working with students who are adults or in high school. I think it will be interesting to work with older students. I enjoy making sculptures out of just about any medium. I have a focus in metals. I also enjoy drawing portraiture. I love viewing two main kinds of art… they are marble sculptures and paintings with thick globs. They call out for me to touch the globs.

Dr. Luke Meeken, Director
I'm the new Assistant Professor of Art Education here at Miami, and I'm overjoyed to be here, and to be working with the Saturday Art program! I'm originally from the Cleveland area, and received my BFA at Carnegie Mellon in Pittsburgh, my Master's in Art Ed at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, and my PhD in Art Ed at Penn State. I taught high school digital and traditional arts for four years in Virginia, and have been developing camp programming with the Smithsonian for elementary, middle, and high schoolers since 2012. I've also taught preschool, and prior to getting my art ed certifications, taught English language in Moscow and Prague to students ranging from preschooler to pensioner. Meaningful learning and making happens at all ages, and I'm privileged to get to work with these MU students as they develop programming for all of our Saturday Art groups! |
